Sales Enablement

Turn the product story and buyer evidence into materials and conversations that fit the way your sales team sells.

A practical product marketing layer for sales

Teal glass streams converge through a transparent cube on dark stone.

I personally develop the agreed sales enablement material. Start with the moments where a seller or buyer needs help: understanding the situation, explaining value, comparing an alternative or involving another stakeholder. A useful asset supports that moment and carries an accurate, approved product story.

Enablement connects research and positioning to the sales process. It can cover discovery questions, talk tracks, comparison material, demo narratives and follow-up content. Shape the scope around the selling motion and the questions that repeatedly appear in deals.

Deliverables

What the work can cover

Sales situation and content map

Map buying stages, stakeholders and recurring questions with sales. Identify which material helps at each moment and where an asset can be improved rather than duplicated.

Discovery and value talk tracks

Translate research and positioning into questions and explanations for a real conversation. Connect capabilities to the buyer’s stated problem and decision criteria.

Objection and comparison material

Prepare agreed objection handling, comparisons or battlecards using supported claims. Keep evidence sources, applicability and limitations visible so the material can be maintained.

Adoption and feedback handoff

Agree how the team will find, use and review materials. Connect sales feedback to messaging and product questions, with named owners for updates and approvals.

Process

How the work comes together

1

Find the moments needing support

Review the selling motion and buyer questions. Use available call, deal and content evidence to identify priorities.

2

Build and review the assets

Develop scoped talk tracks and material around positioning and buyer context. Review accuracy, claims and usability with the relevant owners.

3

Bring feedback into the system

Establish the agreed handoff and review process. Improve materials and surface questions for research, positioning or product.

Useful in the right selling moment

A long deck can contain accurate information and still leave a seller searching for the answer a buyer needs. Make the purpose clear: the situation it serves, who it is for and what it helps the conversation decide.

Competitive material needs care. Describe the relevant buyer situation and the basis for a difference. Distinguish supported facts from interpretation, keep sources attributable and review the material when the product or alternative changes.

A review can examine whether the team finds and uses the material, whether it answers the intended questions and what objections appear next. Commercial outcomes need context; a changed win rate should not automatically be attributed to a new deck or battlecard.

Separate contact volume, buyer fit, sales acceptance, opportunities and revenue in the feedback discussion. For rejected leads, record the reason, supporting deal information and reviewing owner. Check whether the issue is audience fit, product capability or how value was explained before changing the message. Carry incomplete data and inconclusive findings into the next review.

FAQ

Questions about sales enablement

Which materials can be included?

The agreed scope can include discovery questions, value talk tracks, objection handling, comparisons, battlecards, demo narratives and follow-up content. Select them for the selling situations that need support.

Do you work with the sales team?

The work is shaped around the selling motion, buyer questions and handoffs. Agree collaboration, access to evidence, review responsibilities and how material is introduced before work starts.

How are competitive claims handled?

Use attributable sources and approved product facts. Show the buyer context, keep limitations visible and mark material needing validation or approval. Name an owner for updates.

How does this connect to product marketing?

Research supplies context and positioning defines the value story. Enablement applies both to discovery, demos, objections and stakeholder conversations, then returns feedback to those workstreams.

How is the engagement scoped?

Scope, deliverables, responsibilities and review points are agreed per engagement. Engagements are month-to-month with no minimum term; either side can end with 30 days notice.
